Warm Springs Housing Authority
Mission Statement
The Warm Springs Housing Authority (THDHE) is organized and operated to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to Native American families residing on the Warm Springs Reservation with emphasis on Tribal Member preference. To seek out and effectively administer innovative programs to maintain the existing housing stock and to create new housing opportunities for the residents they serve.
The Warm Springs Housing Authority is the Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE) for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The TDHE was established on March 23, 1998 by the 20th Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
WSHA current manages over 300 residential housing units, including both rentals and homeownership units.
The primary source of funding for WSHA is the Indian Housing Block Grant formula funding. The IHBG program “is the primary means by which the Federal Government fulfills its trust responsibilities to provide adequate housing to Native Americans and is the single largest source of Indian Housing assistance.
IHBG formula funding primarily covers operations and maintenance of existing residential units, with very little available for new construction. New construction had been achieved through the application and award of competitive grants and also through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
